  • C
    • A computer programming language designed to handle system software development. Widely used and portable.
  • C++
    • An Object Oriented computer programming language designed to handle system software development. see C.
  • Cache RAM (Random Access Memory)
    • A dedicated bank of high speed memory or reserved section of regular memory that is used to improve performance, by providing a high speed connection between a fast CPU and (relatively) slow Hard Disk. Cache RAM works at the CPU speed. Cache is a very expensive method of increasing RAID performance.
  • CAD (Computer-Aided Design):
    • A type of computer program that manipulates images such as three-dimensional objects on the screen.
  • CAD/CAM:
    • Acronym for Computer-Aided Design/Computer-Aided Manufacturing.
  • CADD (Computer-Aided Design and Drafting):
    • Programs that come equipped with straight lines, arcs, circles, and other elements for making graphic designs.

  • Carpal Tunnel Syndrome:
    • A disorder found among heavy computer users, consisting of damage to nerves and tendons in the hands. See also, Repetitive Strain Injury.

    • Removable recepticle for ink or toner.

  • Cathode ray tube (CRT)
    • An output device where a scanning electron gun fires electrons at phosphor dots on a screen.Depending on the strength of the beam phosphors at the other end illuminate. Resembling a Television set in features.

    • The position of a cell in a spreadsheet.
  • Cell Pointer
    • An indicator for the place where data is to be entered or changed in a spreadsheet.

    • Attaches your computer to your cellphone for data transmission.

    • Controls and manipulates data.

    • The center point of an area.

    • Display Adaptors offering four colours.
  • CGI (Common Gateway Interface )

  • Chain Printer:
    • Printer used mainly with mainframes and minicomputers. It consists of a printing chain with several sets of characters that moves at high speed in front of the paper. A hammer strikes the paper and ribbon against the character.
  • Character
    • a letter, digit or special symbol (Eg. S,2,%).
  • Character-Based Interface:
    • Arrangement for issuing commands, in which users type commands or select items from a menu. Compare Graphical User Interface.

  • Checklist

  • Child Node
    • A node one level below the node being considered in a hierarchical database or network.
