This page provides an index to runnable software I have written for use in a VBScript (ActiveX) challenged browser, such as Internet Explorer 3.x.
Browsers that do not support VBScript will NOT display anything - sorry!!

Software

[Timer control required]

Software with the timer icon (left) requires the use of the timer control. If you are running from the Internet, this control will be loaded from Microsoft's site - by magic!!. If not run the bouncing ball program in the download area below.

[Timer control required]

Keyboard Drill Game (Typing Tutor?)
A program that enables you to select the row of keys to drill (both right and left hand). Every second key will be a home key - to force the fingers back to the home position. Your goal is to get the fish home before the shark gobbles it up. The shark moves on a timer, or if and incorrect key is pressed. The fish moves when you hit the correct key.

[Timer control required]

Huhu grub
Demonstration of the workings of a queue in an array.

A program in which a huhu grub gets longer by eating food. You can control the direction of the huhu with on-screen direction buttons, and see how the array stores the locations of the worms body.

Calculator: Selected base to base 10

A demonstration of how to convert from a selected base (2,8 or 16) to base 10. Shows the working.

Notes

Downloading controls

In some of the programs above an active x control is required. The file required usually has an ocx extension.

In Windows 95 there are three ways to install the control (that I know of)

  1. If you are connected to the internet the control will be downloaded from the source site (eg. the timer from microsoft)
  2. If you are running local I have placed ietimer.ocx in an activex directory. Running the Bouncing ball (Timer loader) should attempt to install the timer.ocx file onto your system. You may need to adjust the security of your browser to allow the program to install (don't forget to reset after the installation is completed).
  3. If you are a DOS/Win95 guru you can use REGSVR32 ietimer.ocx to register the ocx file.

Bouncing Ball (Timer loader)
This program is designed to load the timer control onto your system if you don't have a connection to the Internet.
