Kerning
Closing space between characters to give visually consistent spacing .
Kerning is the amount of space between characters, initially determined by the design of
the font. You can adjust text kerning manually between a pair of letters, over a range of
selected text, or for a whole story. Kerning is usually applied to headings.

A style is a set of text formatting information assigned to a style name so you can
format paragraphs quickly and consistently.
Template
A template is a dummy publication that acts as a model, providing the structure and
general layout for another similar publication. A template saves you time and effort in
creating new publications.
When you use a template, you can focus on the publications content because the
master pages, publication design format, and style sheets are already built into the
template. Templates offer an easy way to create professionally-designed documents that
match your corporate image.
PageMaker has several predesigned templates for common publishing tasks such as books,
brochures, calendars, newsletters, fax cover sheet, etc created by graphic arts
professionals. All you have to do is fill in the blanks by adding your own text and
graphics.
Tracking
Tracking allows you to uniformly adjust spacing in a selected range of text. It is also
a convenient way to lighten or darken a page by increasing or decreasing the white space
between letters
