Handling precautions

  • Put disk in the drive the right way up!
  • Store at a temperature between 10 and 52 degrees C. Excessive heat or sunlight will distort the recording medium of protective jacket, and may make it unable to run in your disk drive.If it has been exposed to excessive heat allow the disk at least 30 minutes to cool brefore using it.
  • Do NOT touch or attempt to clean the recording media
  • Do NOT expose the diskettes to magnetic fields or X-rays
    eg. Magnetic tech drawing boards, telephones, Airport security X-ray machines.
  • Do NOT use an eraser on a disk label
  • Keep in a dust free environment. Dust or grit can get between the disk and read/write (R/W) heads causing damage to both disk and /or R/W heads.
  • Keep Disks dry
  • Do NOT eat, smoke or drink while handling.
  • Do NOT place heavy objects on top of the diskette.
  • Do NOT use paper clips, rubber bands or tape on the disk.

  • For 5.25" Diskettes
    • Store in Dust jackets (5.25")
    • Use felt tipped pens to write on the disk It is prerable to write on the label prior to putting it onto the disk.
    • Do NOT bend or fold
    • Store vertically or horizontally but not so as they sag or lean.
