  • In the first instance you should check the manuals supplied with your computer.

Overall

  • Power in New Zealand 240V A/C.
  • Temp: 10oC to 40 deg C.
  • Humidity 20-80%.
  • Avoid smoke, dust or other foreigh matter (hair, heat, liquids, electromagnetic fields, static electricity.
  • Regular cleaning of all pieces of hardware with a soft cloth and non-abrasive cleaning fluid.
  • Avoid cleaning fluid getting into the inner workings.
  • Remove grime from keyboard, case, mouse.
  • Keeping your computer covered not only decreases the dust build up but help with the prevention of theft. The cover should be antistatic.
  • Floor coverings should be anti-static.
  • A power conditioner/surge protector should be used. Note that if you are connected to a modem, lightning strikes can come via the telephone jack - isolators attached to a power conditioner/surge protectors are available. (You can minimise the risk by unplugging the phone jack when the modem is not in use).
