Database Auditing

A database audit is essentially to check the security and integrity of the data;

This may be achieved by;

• Reviewing the "audit trail" documents - validating users/ workstations / dates for reasonableness.
• Checking input procedures
• Following a transaction through the DBMS, or reviewing the results of a transaction processed by the DBMS.
• Ensuring backup/recovery procedures in place.
• Checking the database data against actual figures (eg. Stock taking)
