Database Administrator (DBA)

Since the Database Management System is a specialised part of an organisation, in a large organisation personnel are assigned to manage the database.

The Database Administrator (DBA) is the custodian of the data.

The DBA will;

  • Develop procedures to protect and control the database
  • Resolve disputes
  • Determine what data needs to be maintained and stored in the database.

The position is senior-level middle management, rather than a technical position.
