Configurations - 1999

1999 saw the Personal computer stabilise in the first half of the year on an Intel Pentium II MMX 450.

  • CPU: 450MHz Pentium II with 7.5 million transistors.
  • Monitor: 15inch active-matrix LCD panel capable of resolutions of 1024 x768 or more
  • Graphic card: 16MB memory with 3D accelerator and AGP connection to CPU.
  • Biometric security: Fingerprint ID kit.
  • Removable storage: LS-120 with 120MB storage (reads/writes 1.44MB floppies)
  • Modem: V.90 surfs the web at 56kbps
  • RAM: 128MB (64 MB recommended for Windows NT)
  • Keyboard: Microsoft Natural keyboard with ergonimatically correct split keyboard design.
  • Speakers: Four-way spearkers add 3D audio realism to games and quality to DVD movie sound tracks
  • Multimedia: DVD-ROM drive holding 8GB.
  • Interior and main casing: PCI bus with few expansion cards. USB allowing for plug and play.
  • Mouse: Cordless (infrared or radiowave). LEft/right handed options.
  • Hard Disk: 10GB.
  • Software: Windows 98 (160MB), MS-Office 97, many games take 500MB.
