Multimedia text - hypertext markup language (htm, html)
Originally developed to display files in a browser for the internet, is now used to transfer formatted text from one application to another, and indeed looks set to be the standard file format in MS Office 2000.. For example Director 7 will allow an htm,html file to be imported into its movie. Basically an ASCII text format with embedded formatting commands (also in ASCII)
