Multimedia text - rich text format(rtf)
Originally developed to transfer formatted text from the IBM PC platform to the Apple Macintosh platform, is now used to transfer formatted text from one application to another. For example Director 7 will allow an rtf file to be imported into its movie. Basically an ASCII text format with embedded formatting commands (also in ASCII)
