There are four types of computers
- Microcomputers
- PC, fit on desktop, used in homes, schools and industry
- Midrange (Minicomputers, Servers)
- Desk-sized machines, medium size companies use them for specific purposes, eg research, accounting
- Mainframes
- Large, occupy specially wired, air-conditioned rooms, very fast, large data storage, used by large
organisations, eg banks
- Supercomputers
- Special, high-capacity, used for weather forecasting, etc
