Data processing

This exercise will allow you to pretend you are a transaction processing computer. Using the inventory information and the customer information below, process the transactions on the next page, noting now they affect your database files.

After entering all of the records, be prepared to provide some operational and management advice on how to make the company more profitable.

6 Jan	Vencenzo's has placed an order for 5 tea towels and a table, and has sent a cheque for $50.00 on account.
20 Jan	Pete's Takeaways orders 12 yellow widgets for immediate delivery.
22 Jan	Production sent confirmation that 15 yellow widgets, 3 tables and another 100 pieces of cutlery and 10 red widgets, have been added to the inventory.
27 Jan	Oliver's Restaurant places an order for 5 tea towels, 50 red widgets. 1 tables and 200 pieces of cutlery.
28 Jan	Vencenzo's sends another cheque for the balance he owes.
3 Feb	Sam's Takeaways places an order for a table, 100 pieces of cutlery and 10 red widgets.
10 Feb	Sam's Takeaways places a further order another 100 pieces of cutlery.
11 Feb	Sam's Takeaways sends a cheque for $350.
12 Feb	Sam's Takeaways cheque is dishonoured by the bank - insufficient funds.
13 Feb	Acting at night you collect and return to inventory all of the items you had delivered to Sam's.
17 Feb	Vencenzo's Pizzas orders a table, 3 yellow widgets, 9 plates, and 50 pieces of cutlery.
19 Feb	Oliver's sends a cheque for $100 on account.
20 Feb	Production sends advice that the following have been added to inventory: 100 red widgets, 6 yellow widgets, 3 plates, 1 table, 10 tea towels.
30 Feb	Pete's PieCart orders 3 yellow widgets, a plate, a table, 50 red widgets and 25 pieces of cutlery.
3 Mar	Oliver's Restaurant orders 6 yellow widgets, 45 red widgets and returns the tea towels from the last order for credit.
5 Mar	Vencenzo's sends a cheque for the balance owed.
