Issues - Centralised Database management system
|
A single database maintained in one location. It is usually managed by a database
administrator. Access to the database is via a communications network, such as a local
area network, or wide area network.
- Examples:
- Some major banks do all their processing on a mainframe, in some cases in a different
country.
- Airline reservation systems need to be centralised to avoid double bookings.
- Inland Revenue in New Zealand is countrywide
