  • Assumptions:
    • Modem set to plug and play and is a US Robotics Inc/Sportstar 33600 Fax PC. Make sure you have drivers available.
    • Printer is HP Deskjet 660 C

Reformatting Drive C

  1. Boot off Win98 rescue disk
  2. Reformat C drive (note : /s switch doesn't appear to work.)
    FORMAT C:
  3. Put system files onto drive C
    SYS C:
  4. Insert Windows95 CD.

SETUP

  • S1. Scandisk should check drives
  • S2. Install into C:/WINDOWS
  • S3. Typical install
  • S3. Enter Product id (on CD jewel case)
  • S4. Enter Name, Company
  • S5. Devices to check for
    [Y] CD-ROM
    [Y] Sound, MIDI or Video Capture
  • S6. Windows Components
    * Install most common
  • S7. Startup disk
    NO (I've already got one!!)
    .. Software installs
    .. P&P installed
  • S8. Time Zone, select
    Wellington, Auckland
  • S9. Inbox setup wizard
    .. Use Exchange before
    ..      No
    .. [Y] MS-Fax
    .. Country, Area Code
    New Zealand (64), 06
    .. Modem Connect
    d:/95setup/modemusr
    .. setup US Robotics Inc/Sporttar 33600 Fax PC
    (refer to other notes / Max speed/ Extra settings.)

  • S10. Printer
    .. Select from D:/95setup/hp660c9/disk1

    .. Press [Ok] for disk 2
    (Change Copy files from disk1 to disk2 then [Ok], same for disk 3)
    .. Agree to license
    .. HP Setup program
    .. (wait about 20 secs)
    .. !! message that "Communication was not established between your computer
    and printer" displayed.
  • S11. Computer restarts
  • S12. Cancel on logon screen
  • S13. Cancel on printer setup

Proceed to install ie3.0.

  1. Install dial-up networking.
    Start|Control Panel | Add remove programs | Windows | Communications
    and check "dial-up networking".
  2. Set up Networking.
    Add Microsoft TCP/IP (and delete other connections)
  3. Setup Dial-up networking
    Make new connection
    create voyager.
  4. Install Scripter program (May not be necessary)
    D:/95setup/scripter
    RIGHT MOUSE click on RNAPLUS.INF and select install
    .. set voyager to d:/internet/scripts/voyager.scp
  5. Test the connection....
    Userid verhaart, password ___________
  6. Install IE3.0 from 95setup/msie301/msie301.exe.
    ..

  • 1. Joystick
  • 2. MS-Keyborad
  • 3. Virus detection software.
  • 4. WinZip
  • .. And thats all.
