connections
|
- To make a digital video recording you will need to have appropriate hardware and
software.
- The hardware required includes a video capture board, and a sound card.
- The software includes programs such as Video for Windows (freeware), or Adobe Premier.
- Finally the analog video source (camera or VCR) needs to be attached to the hardware.

Troubleshooting
- Problem:
Sound plays when recording, but not when the captured video is played back.
- Solution:
If you are recording from a mono device (VCR or Camera) it is possible the wrong
audio channel is plugged into your computer.
Storage requirements.
Since video can take up an enormous amount of disk space you should check that there is
enough. Video can take up to 1MByte per second.
In order to get the best capture possible you can either capture to memory or to disk.
- Capturing to memory is fine for small videos, but unless you have sufficient memory you
will need to save to the Hard disk.
- Capturing to Hard disk requires that the computer is working at maximum performance. To
improve the video you may need to disconnect from a network, shut down as many
applications as possible, and in order to get the best from the hard disk - defragment it.
