  • Justification of analysis methods
    • Comparing CPU speed, Hard disk capacities and MB of RAM using a line graph clearly shows the changes that occur from year to year.
    • Other statistical measures such as average (mean) will not provide any meaningful analysis.
    • Since all units are different (MHz, GB and MB) different charts have had to be done.
  • Conclusions
    • As is clearly shown in the charts, the CPU Speeds, hard disk capacities and RAM, are all increasing exponentially. This indicates that computers purchased next year will be at least twice as powerful as those next year, and four times in the year following. Since here three different things are all increasing exponentially overall performance will change much more than double each year.
    • Since software is written to take advantage of new hardware it is likely that your PC purchased this year will need to be replaced within 3 years!
