Guide to submitting a report


Assessments that are to be submitted as a written report must conform to the following standards;
Formatting
  • Submitted in a clear or coloured plastic folder.
    Please do not use envelope type folders.
  • Lines must be formatted to a 1 1/2 line spacing.
  • Set the left margin to 3.5 cm and a minimum right margin of  1.8cm.
  • Removable media (such as Floppy disks or CD-Roms) should be attached to a piece of A4 Card at the rear of the report in an envelope and must be labelled.
  • Font size for paragraph text to be Times New Roman (or equivalent) at 12 point.
  • Appropriate formatting should be applied to
    • Program code. For example Courier at 10 point single line spacing.
    • Tables
    • Image captions
    • etc..

Presentation
  • All reports must be checked for spelling
  • APA referencing is required.

Content
  • Cover page
    • Must include the name of the project, author or authors (this may be the StudentId number(s)), paper code and description, assessment number, tutor.
    • May include graphics.
  • Table of contents
    • Must have page numbering
  • Terms of reference
    • If required
  • Abstract
    • If required
  • [ Report ]
    • Introduction
    • Findings
    • Conclusion
  • [ Appendices ]
    • This may include outputs from the computer (e.g. printouts, screen dumps, etc.).
  • References (used in the report) and/or bibliography (List of Books/Journals etc.).
    • APA style referencing.
When a page limit is specified it refers to the report contents and appendices only. The cover page, table of contents, terms of reference, abstract and references are not included within the page limit.

All pages must be numbered (using the footer) and include the paper (or module) name and for individual projects your student id.
